A wonderful, substantial antique Sterling Silver pictorial button featuring Pierrot, or perhaps Scaramouche carrying a lantern beneath the watchful gaze of the Man in the Moon. Beautifully sculpted relief, expressive facial details, and a bold twisted rope border. Heavy, quality metal with wonderful character. This is not a French White. Much higher quality. Both the moon and border acid tested for Sterling Silver with strong results. Feels beautiful in hand. This button was on a celestial tray of metals that were recently polished. The reverse shows more signs of age. I believe this is a Division 1 Button but not 100% certain as I have never seen another, other than its mate that I also have listed here.
