A watch cock is an internal, often highly decorative metal part of a pocket watch, typically found in verge watches from the 17th to 19th centuries. These components were originally protective covers for the delicate balance wheel within the watch. These delicate pieces were repurposed into mainly beautiful jewelry (plenty of images on line) in the mid 18th to the early 19th century.
I have recently learned, (thank you Yessy) that watch Cock Buttons are rare. The manner in which the shank was applied was done with great expertise a very long time ago. There are only several that are known to be out there in collections. And here we have 3 of them. All in fine condition and they are NBS Mediums 3/4” - 13/16”
